 ACC 381 Academic German Language and Culture

​Content

This course starting at higher B2 Common European Framework level helps you to deal with the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including specifc academic texts and technical discussions in your feld of academic interest. You will develop your communication skills in such a way that you can interact with native speakers without major diffculties. You will also practice the production of texts on various subjects and you will work on strategies for presenting your viewpoint in discussions on topical issues. Students taking this course will be able to choose topics from their academic felds of interest and learn how to communicate in German at a higher linguistic level. Topics will vary from history or science to cultural and political issues. The practical as well as theoretical benefts of this class can serve as the preparation for taking an offcial test at B2 or even C1 level. The acquired knowledge can be used as a preparation for taking academic courses in the target language.
